Each episode of Mobility Decoded features subject-matter experts explaining what differentiates Aptiv’s technologies and the value they bring to OEM customers and end consumers. While both seasons provided valuable insights, I identified opportunities to improve engagement after Season 1 and led key changes for Season 2.

These changes drove significant improvements:

  • Season 1: Avg. watch time = 26 sec; highest completion rate = 21%

  • Season 2: Avg. watch time = 1 min 11 sec; highest completion rate = 51%

Here’s how I achieved these results:

Problem: Too many speakers can lead to viewer fatigue. While showcasing diverse expertise is valuable, each new interview subject forces the audience to process new names, titles, and context, disrupting the flow. I hypothesized that reducing the number of speakers per episode would create a stronger narrative continuity — enhancing viewer connection and encouraging longer watch times.

Solution: In Season 2, I halved the number of speakers per episode on average while maintaining episode length. I planned interviews more strategically, focusing on deeper, more targeted questions for each speaker. This approach maximized soundbites from fewer contributors while ensuring comprehensive coverage of key topics. The result was that fewer, more focused speakers led to better audience engagement.

In light of recent supply chain disruptions, suppliers and OEMs need to stop designing supply chain networks that are "just in time." A resilient supply chain needs to be designed for "just in case".
